- Aerospace-grade: Meets stringent specifications
- Applications: Chemical processing, aerospace, demanding sealing
Best for: Chemical resistance, aerospace, fuel systems, high-temperature seals
Rubber Sheet Applications
Gasket Material
Rubber sheet is the primary material for gasket fabrication:
- Water pipe gaskets (EPDM or natural rubber)
- Oil system gaskets (nitrile)
- High-temperature gaskets (silicone or Viton)
- Custom gasket cutting – we cut to your CAD files
Tip: Choose rubber hardness based on flange pressure. Higher pressure = harder rubber (70+ Shore A). Lower pressure = softer rubber (50-60 Shore A) for better sealing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which rubber sheet is best for gaskets?
It depends on the media being sealed. For water: EPDM or natural rubber. For oils and fuels: nitrile. For high temperatures: silicone or Viton. For general purpose where specifics are unknown: neoprene is often the safest choice.
What hardness rubber sheet do I need?
Softer rubber (40-55 Shore A) seals better on rough or uneven surfaces. Harder rubber (70-90 Shore A) resists extrusion under high pressure and lasts longer under compression. Standard gasket rubber is typically 60-70 Shore A as a good compromise.
Is rubber sheet food safe?
Some grades are – specifically food-grade silicone and FDA-approved natural rubber. Always specify food-contact requirements when ordering. Standard industrial grades are NOT suitable for food contact.
Can rubber sheet be used outside?
EPDM and neoprene have excellent UV and weather resistance. Natural rubber and nitrile will degrade faster in direct sunlight but are fine for covered outdoor applications.
How do I bond rubber sheet?
Contact adhesive works for most rubber-to-rubber and rubber-to-metal bonds. For specialist applications, rubber cements and vulcanising adhesives provide stronger bonds. Surface preparation (cleaning, roughening) improves adhesion.
What's the difference between rubber sheet and rubber mat?
"Rubber sheet" typically refers to engineering-grade material for cutting and fabrication. "Rubber mat" usually means finished products for flooring applications. The materials are often similar, but sheet is sold for further processing while mats are ready to use.
