Heavy Duty Rubber Matting UK — Industrial Grade Rolls & Mats
Heavy duty rubber matting is the backbone of floor safety in UK industrial, manufacturing, logistics, and commercial environments. Where standard domestic matting fails within months, industrial grade rubber matting withstands years of punishing use — continuous foot traffic, wheeled equipment, chemical spills, and extreme temperature variation. It is, quite simply, the correct specification for any working floor that takes a beating.
Our heavy duty rubber matting range includes ribbed, studded, coin-pattern, and diamond-plate surface profiles in SBR and natural rubber compounds. SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) is the workhorse of industrial flooring — resistant to oils, dilute acids, many solvents, and abrasion. It meets the rigours of factory floors, loading docks, machinery areas, and transit bays without cracking, tearing, or compressing under load.
Thickness options run from 3mm (light commercial use) up to 25mm for high-impact industrial applications. For general heavy foot traffic and pallet truck movement, 6mm–10mm SBR ribbed roll is the standard specification across the sector. Where forklift trucks operate, 10mm–15mm solid rubber provides the surface stability and load distribution required. Anti-fatigue profiles are available within the heavy-duty range for operator workstations — see our dedicated Anti-Fatigue Mats collection for standing station solutions.
All rolls are available cut to the exact length you need, minimising waste on large projects. Standard roll widths of 1m and 1.2m suit most aisle and bay configurations. For entire floor coverage in warehouses or workshops, our team can advise on the most efficient roll layout and supply full project quantities.
Heavy duty rubber matting also functions as a practical vibration dampener under CNC machinery, compressors, and press equipment, reducing transmitted vibration to building structures and improving operator comfort. It is chemical-resistant enough to handle routine cleaning with alkaline degreasers and pressure washing — essential for food production, automotive, and engineering environments.

What is the difference between SBR and natural rubber matting?
SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) is a synthetic compound made partly from recycled tyre rubber. It offers excellent abrasion resistance, good oil resistance, and lower cost than natural rubber. Natural rubber has superior elasticity and tear resistance, making it preferable for high-flex applications or where very low temperatures are a factor. For most UK industrial floor applications, SBR is the recommended and cost-effective choice.
Does heavy duty rubber matting need any maintenance?
Minimal. Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove grit and debris (abrasive particles are the primary cause of surface wear). Wash with warm water and a neutral detergent or alkaline degreaser. Avoid petroleum-based solvents unless the mat is specifically rated for solvent resistance. Rubber matting does not need sealing, waxing, or specialist treatment.
